Lygia Pape (*1927 in Nova Friburgo, †2004 in Rio de Janeiro) was, together with Lygia Clark and Hélio Oiticica, one of the key figures of the Neo-Concrete movement in Brazil in the 1950s and 1960s.
Her particular understanding of geometric abstraction led to a radical reconception of Concrete-Constructivist art. Alongside ethical and socio-political questions, she made her poetic works fruitful for experimental experiences involving all the senses.
With Lygia Pape. The Skin of ALL, the Kunstsammlung Nordrhein-Westfalen at K21 dedicated a comprehensive solo exhibition to a Brazilian artist for the first time (19.03.–17.07.2022). IKS documented the exhibition on film.
