Sebastian Riemer (*1982 in Oberhausen) studied at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf under Thomas Ruff and Christopher Williams and graduated in 2010 as Thomas Ruff’s master student.
In his series “Press Paintings”, Riemer examines the retouching of American press photography of the 1950s. His works raise questions about the inclusion and exclusion of media images and about an economy of image editing that still follows similar criteria today.
